Caribbean concerts at city’s summer pools
Steel drums, and musicians that perform underwater will be among the attractions at a series of Caribbean style concerts at some of Christchurch’s summer pools in January.
To give Christchurch families some idea of what the pools will be offering, the Christchurch City Council Leisure Unit is offering a photo opportunity for media at the Centennial Leisure Centre, Armagh St on Tuesday, January 7 at 9.45 am.
The concerts will be held at Halswell Pool, Friday 17 January; Waltham Pool, Saturday 18 January; and Sockburn Pool, Sunday 19 January.
This will be the first time since 1992 that there has been an underwater concert at the pools and the Caribbean Concerts are being heralded as a not-to-be-missed opportunity to hear this extraordinary music.
