Four days left for feedback
This Friday (4 October) is the deadline for commenting to the Auckland and Manukau City Councils on recommendations for resolving transport issues in the eastern transport corridor between the Auckland CBD and Manukau.
Feedback is sought on the Eastern Corridor Strategy Study completed by Eastdor Consultants. Their recommendation is for a four-lane expressway with dedicated rapid transit lanes with a combined pedestrian/cycle lane.
The councils will decide by the end of October if they will go to a Phase 2 study, which would be a detailed scheme assessment and assessment of environmental effects.
This step would include the development and evaluation of detailed options for the exact route, what land might be required, whether there should be bridges or tunnels and the design of interchanges, for example. It would also include extensive public consultation and further investigation of funding options.
Feedback is invited by the end of Friday, 4 October. It can be sent by post to Freepost 165-771, Transport Planning, Auckland City Council, Private Bag 92516, Wellesley St, Auckland or emailed to mailto: mailto:eastdorstudy@aucklandcity.govt.nz or mailto:eastdorstudy@manukau.govt.nz
