Aerial Spraying going ahead today
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's targeted aerial spraying operation against the painted apple moth in west
Auckland is going ahead today.
Two aircraft will work together but in different areas. A fixed wing plane will concentrate on the residential blocks
and the cemetery, while the helicopter will cover the difficult and smaller areas. Both aircraft are scheduled to
take-off at first light.
The current zone is almost the same as the previous operation, covering 900 hectares and about 4,000 properties.
It includes the seaward margins of Te Atatu, Glendene, Kelston, Waterview and New Lynn between the Whau River and the
general road boundaries of Te Atatu and Great North Roads; the Waikumete Cemetery; parts of the Avondale Peninsula and
low lying land alongside the north-western motorway between the Lincoln Road and the Point Chevalier/Waterview ramps.
