Juggler To Get Replacement Unicycle

Published: Wed 20 Jun 2001 04:29 PM
Local identity Sugra, the juggler, will receive a new unicycle from Christchurch’s Mayor Garry Moore next week.
Sugra’s earlier unicycle was vandalised while on a visit to Westport. (See the 12 April full report in the News, Westport (westport.news@xtra.co.nz).
Sugra approached the Mayor during one of his regular Friday “Mayor in the Square” sessions to ask with assistance with a replacement unicycle.
Recognising Sugra’s unpaid community work in entertaining children, tourists, and the general public, the Mayor made an arrangement for funding from the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise.
The club arranged for a specially modified unicycle to be made for Sugra by Keith Guthrie of Cycle Trading Co, Manchester Street.
Garry Moore, together with the president of the Christchurch Sunrise Rotary Club, Graham Harrington, will present the new unicycle to Sugra at noon on Friday 29 June in Cathedral Square at his regular Chat session.
