Fifteen secondary school children are to be selected for a 10-day visit to Auckland City¡¦s sister city of Fukuoka, Japan, at the end of September.
This amazing experience offers visiting students the opportunity to sample the Japanese culture, language and lifestyle first-hand, through private homestays.
Young people aged between 13 and 17, who live in Auckland City and are a New Zealand citizen, could be part of the 14th Auckland-Fukuoka Sister City Youth Exchange.
And the trip comes highly recommended by previous participants.
¡§My trip to Japan was the best thing I have ever done,¡¨ says Vicki Reddell, a student from Lynfield College who went to Fukuoka in 1999.
Each student will stay with one host family in Fukuoka for the duration of their visit, attending a variety of cultural classes, community events and schools.
¡§My host family was perfect,¡¨ Vicki says. ¡§I will never forget Japan or the friends I made while I was there.¡¨
Auckland City and Lynfield College have prepared a $2050 package deal for the trip. Lynfield College must receive applications by June 15.
Anyone who is interested and would like an application pack should contact Gay Foley, Lynfield College, tel: 627 0600 (ext. 836), fax: 627 0173 or email: gfoley@lynfield.school.nz
