Does your sport club need funding to further develop the club and its future?
Applications are now being sought for the new Hillary Commission Club Development Fund.
This fund is available to non-profit clubs and organisations in Manukau who are looking to improve the sustainability of
their sports into the future. Manukau City Council runs the fund on the Commission’s behalf.
The funding is to be allocated towards projects that focus on:
- the formation of multi-sports clubs
- club amalgamation
- club development
- improving the services a regional sport organisation provides club sport.
Projects could include feasibility studies for clubs looking to amalgamate, the development of regional sports
strategies, or costs associated with the establishment of multi-sports club. Structural building projects will not be
eligible for this fund.
Council’s Fund Administrator, Diana Pratchett says that following the “Sportville” discussion paper published last year,
the Hillary Commission approved a change to the Community Sport Fund that allows Council to set aside up to 50% of the
Fund allocation in 2001 for the development of club sport.
“The intention is that a small number of large grants will be made, rather than many small grants. We are looking to
support creative projects that strengthen club sport in Manukau” Mrs Pratchett said.
A public information evening will be held at 6pm on Tuesday 12 June, in the Manukau Room, Manukau City Council, Wiri
Station Road, Manukau City. No registration is required.
