Storm Closes Botanic Gardens

Published: Thu 12 Oct 2000 09:56 AM
Christchurch's Botanic Gardens were closed this morning because of dangers posed by the storm lashing the city.
The Christchurch City Council's horticultural operations team leader, Warwick Scadden, said the gardens had been closed for public safety reasons. Also, he said that people using Hagley Park should exercise caution. Mr Scadden said little damage had been caused in the gardens or the park because the trees were in "excellent condition." The actions were taken for safety reasons, he said.
