Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A low lies east of the South Island. A south to southwest flow covers much of the country.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI and TARANAKI: Cloudy at times with a few showers but fine breaks increasing during the afternoon. Southwest winds.
BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA and TAUPO: Rain retreating to the ranges east of Whakatane this morning and becoming mainly fine during the afternoon. Southwest winds.
TAIHAPE, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few light showers possible. Southwest winds.
WELLINGTON: Cloudy at times with a few showers and southerly winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA: Rain about Gisborne but easing to a few showers further south. South to southwest winds.
NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Mainly fine with southwest breezes.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Cloudy at first with a few showers about the coast, chiefly north of Banks Peninsula. Long fine breaks increasing inland. Southerly winds easing.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloudy about the coast with showers likely. Becoming mainly fine inland. Southeast winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Outbreaks of rain and northerly winds turning southwest later.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: A few showers remain about the east coast from Kaikoura to Gisborne but elsewhere mainly fine. At the Chathams, rain and southerlies.
