All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: A weak trough about central areas should
gradually
decay as it drifts east today leaving a ridge
of high pressure
covering much of the country.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND,
COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
WAIKATO,
WAITOMO, TAUPO, TAUMARANUI, TAIHAPE, TARANAKI, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: Cloud increasing with showers developing
in most
places during the day. Winds generally light.
Fine periods are
likely to increase again towards
evening, especially in western
districts.
WELLINGTON:
Cloudy skies with a few showers. Northerlies dying
out
this morning and southerlies developing from
afternoon.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA: Cloud and
light showers spreading
north today, reaching Gisborne
this evening. Southerlies slowly
prevailing.
NELSON
and MARLBOROUGH: Cloudy with patchy falls of rain for much
of the day then fine periods increasing from the south
by evening.
Not much breeze.
BULLER, WESTLAND and
FIORDLAND: Rain areas about Buller and
Westland slowly
clearing from the south but remaining fairly
cloudy.
Further south mostly cloudy dry conditions expected. Not
much wind.
CANTERBURY: Becoming fine inland but areas
of cloud about the coast.
Some drizzle there from
evening. Light winds tending northeasterly
near the
coast from evening.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloud breaking
inland and becoming fine.
Coastal places can expect
cloudy areas to persist. Light winds
In most places.
Northeasterlies developing about the Otago coast
later
on.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: A cloudy day ahead. Further light
showers likely
but these becoming few and far between as
time goes on.
Southwesterlies easing further.
THE
OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Over the North Island patchy drizzle
in the east clearing, elsewhere becoming fine. The South
island
sees cloud increasing in the west with rain later
south of the
glaciers. In most other places a mix of
fine and cloudy weather.
At the Chatham's, cloudy with
morning drizzle.
