All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:

The Situation: A complex area of low pressure over the Tasman Sea
is moving slowly southeast. An associated front extending on to
the upper and central South Island is drifting slowly south.

And now the forecast to midnight tonight:

NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA and BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA:
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAUPO and TAIHAPE: A mix of
showers and fine periods, some of the showers heavy this morning.
Northwest winds.

WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Rain easing to showers this morning and
increasing fine periods this afternoon. Northwest winds.

GISBORNE and HAWKES BAY: Showery about the main western ranges for
much of the day. A few showers further east times but long periods
of sunshine expected. Northwest breezes.

WAIRARAPA and WELLINGTON: Rain areas gradually clearing this morning
and by this afternoon mainly fine and sunny. Light winds in most
places but cool southerlies about Wellington.

NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Patchy rain about Buller and
from central Westland northward. Elsewhere cloudy but dry. Not much
wind.

MARLBOROUGH: Cloudy skies with areas of patchy rain. Southeasterlies
about northern Marlborough, further south winds light and variable.

CANTERBURY and OTAGO: Overcast and dull in most places with further
rain at times. Persistent and heavier falls about central and south
Canterbury spreading into north Otago this afternoon. East to
northeast winds.

SOUTHLAND: Rain at times. East to northeast winds, breezy
about Foveaux Strait and Stewart Island.

CHATHAM ISLANDS: Overcast with further rain. Brisk easterlies.

THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Lowest pressures are expected to lie close
to the centre of the country. Showery conditions should continue in
the north and west of the North Island and about the South Island
west coast. Eastern North Island areas should stay mostly dry but
about the east of the South Island, also Southland, expect extensive
drizzle and low cloud. Further rain to fall at the Chathams.
