Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tomorrow:

In the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Manawatu, also for the central plateau: Cloudy today with a few light showers, showers more frequent and widespread from tomorrow afternoon and evening. Snow likely about the central mountains at night which includes the Desert Road.

Bay of Plenty: Mostly fine. Brief rain possible tomorrow night.

Gisborne to Wairarapa: Mostly fine today. Showers and southerlies spreading north tomorrow afternoon reaching Gisborne after dark.

Wellington: Cloudy periods, turning showery and colder tomorrow.

Nelson: Brief showers tomorrow morning then a clearance.

The South Island west coast: Rain slowly clearing from the south tomorrow.

Marlborough and Canterbury: Dry with high cloud at first. Showers spreading north overnight with snow to the ranges then becoming fine from the south during tomorrow.

Otago and Southland: Rain working north after dark with snow to low levels briefly. Tomorrow morning clearing inland but wintry showers persisting about the coast.

Chatham Island: Showers becoming more frequent tomorrow with cold southwesterlies. Some hail likely.
