Weather Workshop: 5 day forecast for NZ

All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:

The Situation: An anticyclone over northern New Zealand is slowly
drifting east and weakening. A northwest flow is expected to
strengthen over remaining areas during the day ahead of a trough
approaching from the Tasman Sea.

NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA and BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA:
Fine and sunny in most places but cloudy at times about parts of
Northland and Auckland. Light winds.

WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TAUPO, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: Rather cloudy skies expected. A few drizzle patches
developing this afternoon and evening from Taranaki south. West to
northwest winds becoming gusty in exposed places later.

GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Fine, sunny conditions. Light
winds about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. Northwesterlies strengthening
in Wairarapa during the day.

WELLINGTON: A mix of cloudy and fine periods with brisk northerlies.
Drizzle possible about the northern hills this evening.

NELSON: Cloudy about the western ranges with drizzle there from
afternoon. Mainly fine elsewhere. West to northwest winds becoming
breezy.

BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: A cloudy dull day. Rain about
Fiordland becoming persistent with falls spreading north as far
as central Westland this afternoon. Drizzle areas in northern
Westland and Buller later on. North to northeast winds.

MARLBOROUGH: Bright and sunny with breezy northwesterlies. Areas
of high cloud
from afternoon.

CANTERBURY: Rain developing about the main divide. Further east
dry with high cloud increasing. A few morning fog areas also.
Northwest winds inland breaking thru to the coast at times.

OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Rain developing about the western ranges
this morning. Mostly dry elsewhere but with extensive high
cloudiness. Brief rain may spread further east tonight. Northwest
winds to gale in exposed places and to storm force about parts
of Stewart Island.

CHATHAM ISLANDS: Mostly fine weather with westerly winds.

THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Cloudy and windy over much of the North
Island with drizzle in the west from Waikato southwards. Rain on
the west coast of the South Island with a few heavy falls. Rain
spreading to much of Southland and Otago but Canterbury and
Marlborough dry and windy. At the Chatham Islands Cloudy with
northwesterlies strengthening.
