Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The Situation: A high in the Tasman Sea is pushing a ridge onto the country. A south to southwest airstream covers much of New Zealand while a shallow trough to the north of the North Island is moving away to the east.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND and COROMANDEL PENINSULA: A mix of cloud and fine breaks with a few light showers about eastern areas. Southerly breezes.
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, BAY OF PLENTY, ROTORUA, TAUPO, TARANAKI, WANGANUI, MANAWATU, TAIHAPE: Morning cloud and any remaining showers clearing and becoming fine with south to southwest breezes
WELLINGTON: Cloud and a few showers clearing and becoming mainly fine with cool southerlies.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: A few light coastal showers clearing from the south this morning and becoming mostly fine by afternoon. Cloud and the odd shower remain about Gisborne however. Southerly winds.
NELSON,BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine and frosty with light Winds.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Mainly fine today after a frosty start. Cloud and a few showers remain about the Kaikoura coast however. Southerly breezes.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Fine and frosty inland. A few cloudy periods remain about the coast though with the odd light shower possible. Southwest winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Mostly cloudy with showers and cold southwesterlies.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Fine and frosty to most places with southerly breezes. At the Chatham Islands, showers and cold southwesterlies continuing.
