Melbourne, Australia, August 11, 2022 – Foresight, a new Australian-bred consultancy, has opened its doors in Australia today.
Founded and directed by experienced consultant Josh Martin, Foresight is an innovative sustainability consultancy
start-up that cuts across strategic and operational sustainability.
“With momentum growing behind the sustainability transition I feel there is a considerable gap in the Australian market
for a dedicated climate change and sustainability group that can cater to the growing demand for advisory and assurance
services,” said Martin. “Foresight will look to fill this gap.
“The firm’s focus will be on providing greater access to seasoned and experienced professionals, a more personal and
bespoke service offering, developing new and innovative approaches to solutions, and a highly customer centric and agile
way of working.”
Martin most recently worked as the Senior Director at ENGIE Impact ANZ, where he was responsible for establishing and
growing the then-fledgling firm into one of Australia’s top sustainability firms in just 18 months in the role (as rated
by consultancy.com.au).
Prior to his work with ENGIE Impact, Martin was the Oceania leader of EY’s Climate Change sub-service line where he led
the development of the global approaches to climate strategy and risk while playing a crucial role in the growth of the
firm’s non-financial assurance services. Prior to that he was a key member of the team at Net Balance, a start-up that
grew to be Australia’s largest stand-alone climate change and sustainability consultancy before its acquisition by EY.
Martin has already hired three new staffers and has six positions open. He has also started the company with a number of
clients on board, including two in the ASX 50. The firm is taking a more progressive and meaningful way of measuring
success by focussing the firm’s impact, not just its financials.
“Foresight is about more than profit. We are about purpose. We want our legacy to be that of meaningful change in the
pursuit of sustainability. To truly know if we are delivering, we must measure and track that,” said Martin. “By
focussing on impact, Foresight’s success is intrinsically tied to the success of our clients and their positive impact.
“I have a good understanding of what makes effective consulting and how to deliver better outcomes for the client. A
client-centric and agile way of working is the foundation. We want to do things differently not just to be different,
but because that’s what we know the market needs and what our clients want.”
Foresight is made up of three areas: Consulting, Assurance and Impact Capital, the latter which aims to drive real
impact by connecting financial capital to sustainability projects.
In addition to the consulting practice (Foresight Consulting Group) there will be a dedicated not-for-profit with the
mission to drive innovation in sustainability: Foresight Lab.
Josh says that 20 per cent of Foresight employee time will be dedicated to innovation projects.
“In consulting, innovation often falls by the wayside in favour of driving higher profits through a focus on established
services and solutions,” said Martin. “To really have impact, the boundaries on what is possible need to be pushed. “We
are in the decade of action. Solutions to tomorrow’s problems need solving just as much as today’s. That is exactly what
Foresight Lab is focussed on: tomorrow’s agenda.”About Foresight
