Wimbledon Launches Centenary Edition NFT To Complement Centenary Collection
With two weeks since the conclusion of the 135th Championships at Wimbledon, and Centre Court’s 100th year, the All England Lawn Tennis Club has released a complement to its Centenary Collection, The Centenary Edition NFT.
Priced at just £100, The Centenary Edition combines elements from all ten decades of the sold out Centenary Collection, and provides any Wimbledon fan with the chance to own a piece of Centre Court history at an accessible price point.
The super-edit digital masterpiece mixes 100 years of photography and tennis fashion into one hero overview, paying homage to Centre Court.
Alexandra Willis, Communications and Marketing Director at the All England Club, commented:
“We launched The Centenary Collection to pay homage to Centre Court in an innovative way, and provide both collectors and fans the chance to help us celebrate the court’s incredible legacy. We are delighted that these beautiful digital masterpieces, minted as NFTs, have found their way into the homes of so many people around the world, and, as we strive to put our fans at the heart of what we do, hope that The Centenary Edition provides even more people with the chance to participate in this unique project.”
“From the beginning, we've considered how this project will evolve,” added Glorious Digital Chief Executive Tim Harper.
“Wimbledon didn’t want fans who missed out to be disappointed. While The Centenary Collection editions remain exclusive at only 1000 editions, The Centenary Edition is an open artwork, giving fans a further opportunity to participate, and there will no doubt be more to come as we look ahead to 2023.”
The Centenary Edition is priced at £100 and is available until Sunday 24 July at https://wimbledon.glorious.digital/.
Fans who missed out on a Centenary Collection edition may be able to buy one on the secondary marketplace.
