49th Pacific Islands Forum in Nauru Media Update - Fisheries

The Pacific Islands News Association/Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Pre-Forum Media Workshop continued in Nauru this morning with a briefing on Pacific fisheries.

Deputy Director General Matt Hooper and Executive Officer Tevita Tupou of the Forum Fisheries Agency brought the new Tuna Fishery Report Card for 2018. The Report Card provides high level advice on the current status of Pacific tuna fisheries in relation to the goals, indicators and strategies adopted by Forum Leaders in the Regional Roadmap for Sustainable Pacific Fisheries.

They also presented a fact sheet on the Pacific Maritime Security Program, a 30 year commitment to regional maritime security by the Australian Government that includes the PMSP-FFA Aerial Surveillance Programme.
