Digicel Tonga’s network restoration well underway
Tuesday, 13th February 2018 – Suva, Fiji – As recovery efforts are now underway in Tonga, Digicel is working round the clock to get critical communication services back up and running so that emergency services, families and friends can connect. Currently there is full connectivity in Vava’u and Ha’apai and work to restore all services in Tongatapu is ongoing at pace.
Digicel Regional CEO Pacific, Colin Stone, said “Our thoughts are with the people of Tonga and we are deeply saddened by and concerned about the destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Gita that hit Tonga last night. While there is considerable damage to structures and homes across the islands with flooding and power outages, our immediate priority and focus is to ensure that communications services are restored as quickly as possible so that people can connect with their friends and loved ones.”
In conclusion, Ben Kealy CEO for Digicel Tonga said: “We are committed to keeping people informed and up to date on our progress. Likewise, we stand ready to help the people of Tonga as they recover and rebuild.”
