award
December
12, 2017, Suva, FIJI- Designers of the South
Pacific Tourism Organisation new brand South Pacific Islands
have been awarded for their innovative work on the brand at
the Transform Awards Asia-Pacific 2017.
FutureBrand scooped Silver places for both, Best Place or Nation Brand and Best Visual Identity in the Travel, Leisure and Tourism Sector. The awards recognize best practice in corporate, product and global brand development work, with categories that focus on strategy, execution, content and evaluation.
SPTO Chief Executive Officer, Chris Cocker said “FutureBrand and SPTO are both extremely proud of our work on the new brand and that it has achieved recognition at this International awards.”
The new brand represents both a corporate and consumer facing monogram and messaging which focuses on drawing heavily on Pacific Islands’ cultural elements, and in particular weaving.
A new consumer-facing slogan “Ours is yours” accompanies the new brand which evokes the welcoming nature of Pacific peoples and the Pacific spirit of sharing, in particular the unique cultures and pristine natural environments that the island countries share with visitors from around the world.
SPTO engaged FutureBrand in October 2015 to develop a new Brand Identity and Strategy for the organisation. FutureBrand was awarded the work following a very competitive tender process and commenced work in November 2015. The new Brand was completed and officially launched by the Cook Islands Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Henry Puna at the 26th Council of Tourism Ministers Meeting held in Rarotonga, Cook Islands on the 12th of October, 2016.
At the launching Mr Puna said “The new brand for South Pacific tourism has found a simple yet effective way to connect our island countries through our shared heritage of weaving. At the same time, it’s a resolutely modern identity, one that will help propel South Pacific tourism forward in the increasingly globalized world”.
SPTO commenced the roll out of the new brand SPTO/ South Pacific Islands through rebranding promotional collaterals for both print and online (banners, South Pacific Map), launching the
rebranded website and new url www.southpacificislands.travel at the SPTE in May this year (Sydney) and office stationary and assets.
Judging this year’s entries, branding and communication professionals from the likes of Labbrand Asia, Hong Kong Red Cross and UberEATS assessed the breadth of work on offer across several touch points.
The Transform Asia- Pacific awards marked the fourth year since Transform began its recognition of brand development work across the Asia-Pacific region and was held at the Harbour Grand in Kowloon, Hong Kong, and hosted by comedian, Vivek Mahbubani.
