Pabiona to Share How Filipino Children Are Beating Poverty at Free Event
New Zealanders can hear how child poverty is being tackled in the Philippines when inspiring speaker Noel Pabiona tours the country this September and October.
Noel is the country director for Tearfund’s Compassion sponsorship programme in the Philippines, where more than 70,000 Filipino children up to 21 years old are being nurtured, educated, developed and equipped.
With former senior leadership roles in government, multinational corporations, church fellowship and air force, Noel offers a breadth and depth of knowledge and wisdom through his speaking.
He will share life-changing stories at this free event, supported by Kiwi singer-songwriter and former frontman of award-winning outfit Parachute Band, Omega Levine.
Omega’s exceptional storytelling talent, interwoven with a passion for music and childhood influences of Johnny Cash and Motown gospel, presents an impacting and powerful performance.
Nearly 12,000 children living in 26 nations throughout the world are sponsored by New Zealanders through Tearfund’s partnership with Compassion International.
Omega says he is encouraged by the work Tearfund is doing to support children living in vulnerable communities and the commitment of everyday Kiwis to making a difference.
“When you hear about kids in underprivileged communities who have been given a hand up because of what Kiwis have invested through child sponsorship, that’s a testament to the incredible generosity of New Zealanders and what we place value on.
“I’d encourage New Zealanders to get along to this tour, take up the opportunity to invest into future generations and be a part of what Tearfund is doing through Compassion.”
Noel and Omega will be touring New Zealand from September 26 to October 13. For tour dates or more information, visit Tearfund.org.nz.
