Vishnu Deo Road rehabilitated

Vishnu Deo Road rehabilitated

Motorists and up to 2,000 residents of Vishnu Deo Road in Nakasi can expect improved road conditions once Fulton Hogan Hiways (FHH) completes rehabilitation of a 170 metre section of the road that has been neglected over a number of years. This road is one of several roads improved under the Fiji Roads Authority road rehabilitation programme.

The road branches off the Kings Road and is six kilometres away from Nausori Town and approximately 14 kilometres from Suva.

FHH Stabilising Supervisor, Inia Hughes, said that the 170-metre section had “succumbed to the elements producing numerous deep potholes that were impossible to avoid.

“We have cleaned the drains and will be doing cement stabilisation on the eight-metre wide road. Once done, it should bring some comfort to motorists,” said Mr Hughes.

Vishnu Deo Road is three kilometres long and services one primary and two secondary schools.

“The existing material will be mixed with cement to a depth of 250mm, stabilisation will follow using a roller and a grader. Sealing will complete the process,” he added.
