Save the Children responds to affected population in Myanmar floods
At least 150,000 people, including 60,000 children, have been affected by flooding in Myanmar, which so far has claimed
the lives of 27 people.
The government of Myanmar has declared a state of emergency in the states, of Chin, Rakhine, Magway and Sagaing.
Save the Children has deployed assessment teams to the worst affected areas.
Water has destroyed homes, schools and basic infrastructure and more rain is forecast over the next few days.
Save the Children expects the death toll to rise, and urgent assistance will be needed for those who have been displaced
from their homes.
Government emergency workers and UN agencies have also dispatched assessment teams to regions that have been hardest hit
by the flooding.
