Dr. Ashrawi meets with the Representative of India to the State of Palestine, Mahesh Kumar
Yesterday, PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi met with the Representative of India to the State of Palestine, Mahesh Kumar, at the PLO Headquarters in Ramallah.
Dr. Ashrawi expressed her appreciation to India for its positive and consistent position towards Palestine, its support for Palestinian rights, independence and freedom, and for voting in favor of the three UNHRC resolutions regarding the occupied State of Palestine at the 28th session of the Human Rights Council.
Dr. Ashrawi briefed Mr. Kumar on the latest Palestinian political developments, including Palestine's official accession to the International Criminal Court:
“This historic and momentous occasion is just the beginning for the Palestinian leadership to resort to all venues of international judicial accountability for Israel’s flagrant violations of international law and war crimes. We will strive for peace and seek justice on behalf of Palestinian people everywhere.”
Both parties also discussed efforts of mutual cooperation and understanding, the latest facts on the ground, including Israel’s escalation of its settlement activities, the annexation of Jerusalem and how its dangerous policies are undermining the chances for peace and the two-state solution, the illegal and cruel siege of Gaza and the need to provide emergency relief and reconstruction in Gaza, and the internal situation and rift in Palestine.
