NOAA Climate Study 2014 Reveals Hottest Year on Record

What’s surprising is that anyone is surprised that 2014 was the hottest year on record. The science has been screaming
at us for a long, long time. We’ve seen thirteen of the warmest years on record since 2000. Greenhouse gas emissions
from human activity are at an all-time high, which we know leads to a warming planet. We’re seeing higher than ever
occurrences of extreme weather events like catastrophic droughts, storm surges and torrential rain. These events are
having devastating economic, security and health impacts across the planet.
This report is just another sound in a steady drumbeat that is growing increasingly more urgent. So the question isn’t
the science. The question isn’t the warning signs. The question is when and how the world will respond. Ambitious,
concrete action is the only path forward that leads anywhere worth going.
