Violation of truce compelled Israel to resume its operation

Hamas violation of the humanitarian truce compelled Israel to resume its operation
28 July 2014

In light of the continued Hamas fire, Israel is compelled to resume its operation, effective immediately, against the Hamas terrorists who violated the humanitarian truce which the UN requested for the residents of Gaza.

Israel honored the UN requested truce Saturday 26 Julyfrom 08:00-20:00, further agreed to extend the cease-fire for an additional 4 hours and agreed to an additional extension from midnight Saturday night to midnight Sunday night.

Unfortunately, a few minutes after 20:00, Hamas already renewed firing at Israeli civilians. Hamas violated the truce again on Sunday morning by continuous firing of heavy barrages of rocket at Israel’s cities.

Hamas first rejected the Egyptian ceasefire initiative and afterwards violated last week's UN humanitarian truce. It later violated the Red Cross humanitarian truce and has now rebuffed the UN request for a humanitarian truce in order to allow the residents of Gaza to prepare for Eid al-Fitr.

The IDF targets terrorist centers but if residents are inadvertently hit, it is Hamas which is responsible given that it has – again – violated the humanitarian truce to which Israel acceded.

Ends.
