Travel of Assistant Secretary William R. Brownfield, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs

Ambassador William R. Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, will travel to Mexico and Colombia July 30-August 2.
In Mexico, he will accompany Deputy Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Rand Beers in meetings with senior Mexican Government officials to discuss bilateral security cooperation.
In Colombia, Ambassador Brownfield looks forward to meeting with senior government officials to discuss our long-standing bilateral relationship and, in particular, joint security cooperation initiatives with partner nations on issues such as citizen security, counternarcotics trafficking, and institutional strengthening. In this context, he and Colombia’s Vice-Minister of Defense Jorge Enrique Bedoya will co-chair the fourth session of the bilateral Security Cooperation Coordinating Group (SCCG) in Bogota on August 1. A joint statement will be issued at the conclusion of the session outlining the program initiatives.
