Dr. Ashrawi: “The international community must act immediately to stop Israel’s deliberate targeting of the besieged Gaza Strip”
“We call on all members of the international community, particularly the United Nations, European Union and the United States, to act immediately to put an end to Israel’s deliberate targeting of the besieged Gaza Strip and its civilian population under occupation."
These comments came during a meeting PLO Executive Committee member, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, had with Mr. Radek Rubeš, Head of Mission of the Representative Office of the Czech Republic to the State of Palestine, at the PLO Headquarters in Ramallah.
Dr. Ashrawi briefed Mr. Rubeš on the latest Palestinian political developments, Israel’s latest military escalation in Gaza, and the need for serious intervention by the international community: “In the past three days, 32 Palestinians have been killed and more than 200 Palestinian civilian injuries have been reported.
These war crimes, particularly the extrajudicial executions and grave acts of collective punishment, being perpetuated by Israel in its most recent military campaign are undeniably condemnable, and Israel must be held to account for its deliberate violations of international law and international humanitarian law before it is too late.
Israel has to stop cultivating a culture of hate and dehumanization of the Palestinian people and the devaluation of their lives and rights,” concluded Dr. Ashrawi.
