Attack on Libyan General National Congress Headquarters
Press Statement
Jen Psaki
Department Spokesperson
Washington, DC
March 4, 2014
________________________________________
The United States condemns the March 2 attack on Libya’s General National Congress headquarters. We support Libyan efforts to bring those responsible for this act of violence to justice. Violence only threatens to undermine the legacy of the Libyan revolution.
We stand by Libya in its efforts to ensure security and protect its citizens. We urge all Libyans to support the transition to democracy according to the principles they fought for in the revolution and laid out in the August 2011 Constitutional Declaration.
