Anti-Coup Alliance Denounces Attack on Coup Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim
The coalition of parties and groups opposed to the coup reiterates its commitment to non-violent assembly and protest activities, and hopes the minister’s attack is not followed with more repression and dark police-state measures against the people of Egypt.
The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy Alliance condemns the incident earlier today (Thursday) in which the convoy of Major-General Mohamed Ibrahim was attacked.
The Alliance reaffirms that it is against all acts of violence, even against those who committed crimes against the people, because it endeavors to establish law and order.
The Alliance is deeply concerned that such events could be used to extend the state of emergency and expand the use of brutality, repression and arbitrary detention pursued by the putschist authorities and which are all rejected by the Alliance.
The Alliance reiterates for the hundredth time that it is committed to peacefulness in all its activities, which it insists on continuing until the return to democratic and constitutional legitimacy. It also confirms that the strength of the people's revolution against the coup lies in non-violence.
