Lab Testing Workshop to Boost Health Service For Tokelau
Diagnostics always come first. Before you can treat you must be able to diagnose. Unfortunately the diagnostics in sexual transmitted disease have been shrouded, vague, symptom-based definitions.
The second leg of three workshop held at the Millennia Hotel in Samoa, aimed at up skilling the Tokelau service with the knowledge acquire to carry out testing of specimen in the laboratory has now been completed.
All the doctors from the island took part - participating in varies activities as well as performing laboratory testing at the Tupua Tamasese hospital in Motootua, Samoa.
The health department see the breakthrough in testing with diagnostic result to be more sufficient to determine the appropriate treatment.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Sophaganine Ty Ali (Nin), STI and Counselling Advisor with Mr. Tebuka Toatu a Laboratory Specialist in HIV and STI from Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and assistance from Laboratory Manager, Mr. Vaomalo Kini of the Tupa Tamasese Hospital in Samoa.
