Switzerland’s 1st “stand-alone” Hindu temple opens

Switzerland’s first “stand-alone” temple was reportedly formally inaugurated over the weekend after about seven-weeks of celebrations in Trimbach near Olten in Solothurn canton.

Situated at the base of tall wooded mountains, Arulmihu Sri Manonmaniampal Alyam (Tempel) is claimed to be the largest of its kind in the country. Ceremonies were reportedly performed by ten priests; which included pujas, traditional music and a procession.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded efforts of Temple leaders and area community to realize this Hindu temple complex.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this temple complex would focus in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism, we should focus on inner search and realization of Self.

Hindus were reportedly granted permission for burial rites at the Reuss River near Lucerne (Switzerland) in the recent past.

Mostly German speaking Trimbach with Roman Catholic majority, which was first mentioned in 1244, is known for Ruins of Frohburg Castle.
