Countdown to the Great Car Rally
The Great British Rally through New Zealand is now just a week away.
The Rally will see 210 modern and classic British cars on the road from Auckland all the way to Christchurch. They will reach the city on the anniversary of the 2011 earthquake.
The route will take the ralliers through Tauranga, Whakatane, Gisborne, Napier, Masterton, Wellington, and Kaikoura to enter Christchurch on the 22nd of February.
The rally will also be a celebration of British automotive engineering which is enjoying a renaissance with British cars exports in trade credit for the first time in over 30 years.
The rally will also be accompanied by a travelling trade roadshow which will be promoting everything British from men’s toiletries to pushbikes.
A novelty of the rally will be the participation of that great British invention Mr Whippy who will be selling ice creams along the route.
The car rally is also aiming to raise money for the Starship Foundation, Save the Children, the Christchurch City Mission and Canterbury’s Stepping Stone Trust.
