300 Ogonis for Management Training

300 Ogonis are undergoing“adaptive management” training to acquire skills required to upgrade leadership at village and district levels in Ogoniland.

The five-week program offers participants practical lessons, middle level planning and executive skills in administrative management and leadership.

Registered participants include village and district elected representatives, MOSOP and its affiliate leaders as well as other non-profit organization leaders.

In a message to the opening in Teyork today, January 30, 2013, MOSOP President/Spokesman, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo said that although Ogoni has a significant number of formally educated men and women; there has been a growing culture of lack application of acquired knowledge to Ogoni agenda and needs of the people.

Diigbo said while the program is not a substitute for formal eductation, the goal is to provide grassroots leaders with an on-the-ground outlook; focused on leadership content and productive outcome.

“Ogoni is confronted with leadership shortcoming; arising from generational gap and ignorance. I will like it very much, if participants can discover solution to the inability to apply knowledge, through the use of adaptive leadership and management skills,” Diigbo stated.

MOSOP Secretary General, Hon. Dum Ade John Budam, a professional teacher and a graduate of English Language, who is also a trainer-trainee, said 59 men and women are taking part in the program as trainer-trainees.
