DHS Trolling Web for Sandy Hook Rifle 'Oddities' - CLG Website Logs by Lori Price, www.legitgov.org 07 Jan 2013 CLG website logs frequently reveal fascinating .gov and .mil visitors, such as the CIA, Pentagon, FBI, DIA, and NASA. On Monday, the DHS accessed CLG's news summary, 'Bushmaster rifle used in CT shootings was same weapon used in Washington, D.C. sniper killings in 2002,' posted 16 December 2012... Here we learn two facts. One, Homeland Security has trouble spelling 'Connecticut.' Two, the DHS also has questions on the Sandy Hook shootings -- as does Citizens for Legitimate Government.

Fire breaks out at Australian nuclear facility --Two fire crews and a hazardous materials unit were on scene --Lucas Heights is home to two nuclear reactors 08 Jan 2013 A fire broke out at a nuclear research reactor in Sydney, but authorities said the blaze was brought under control and there appeared to be no damage to the reactors. The fire broke out as the city sweltered through a heat wave which has triggered dozens of bushfires, but the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) said the incident was not linked to the weather conditions. The state fire service said smoke was detected in an electrical substation at the rear of the Lucas Heights nuclear facility in southern Sydney shortly after 10:30 am (2330 GMT Monday) but the source was yet to be found.

Helicopter searching for radiation in nation's capital 07 Jan 2013 In the skies above Washington, D.C., a low-flying helicopter is searching for evidence of gamma radiation. If a dirty bomb were to go off in the capital or the authorities were forced to hunt for a nuclear weapon in the city, an established baseline of radiation sources throughout the capital would be important. As part of the National Nuclear Security Administration's security and emergency preparedness procedures, the flights are measuring 'naturally occurring' radiation in the Washington, D.C., area began Dec. 27 and will conclude Jan. 11, 2013. The helicopter will cover approximately 70 square miles, flying in a grid pattern over the areas.

Nuclear Security Helicopters Testing Radiation Levels Above DC Area 05 Jan 2013 Helicopters have been conducting radiation tests above portions of the Washington, D.C. area using remote gamma radiation sensing technology. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has been flying the radiation missions since Dec. 27, 2012 and they will continue until next Friday, Jan. 11. The flights have been conducted during daylight only, and the pilots fly about 80 miles per hour at 150 feet above the approximately 70-square mile radiation assessment area. Naturally-occurring radiation is measured so that baseline levels can be established and used in security and emergency preparedness [and false flags], reads a statement from the NNSA.

Obama nominates Chuck Hagel for Defense, John Brennan for CIA 07 Jan 2013 President Obama on Monday nominated former Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel as defense secretary and counterterrorism adviser [war criminal] John O. Brennan as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Appearing with the two men in the East Room of the White House, Obama called Hagel “the leader that our troops deserve” and a “champion of our troops and our veterans and our military families.” He said Hagel, a former Army sergeant, would be the first person of enlisted rank and the first Vietnam War veteran to head the Defense Department. If confirmed by the Senate, the nomination of Hagel would add a well-known Republican to the president’s second-term Cabinet.

Officials: Suspected U.S. drone strike kills 17 in Pakistan's tribal region 06 Jan 2013 A suspected U.S. drone strike killed 17 people and wounded three Sunday in Pakistan's volatile tribal region, Pakistani intelligence officials said. The strike occurred in Babar Ziarat, which borders the Pakistani provinces of North and South Waziristan, near the Afghan border, the officials said. The attack follows two suspected U.S. drone strikes in the same area last week that killed 15 people. [Yeah, it's only a 'volatile' region because USociopaths are slaughtering hundreds of civilians. Otherwise, the region would not be 'volatile.']

Latest drone strike kills eight in northwest Pakistan 07 Jan 2013 A U.S. drone strike killed eight people in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, three intelligence sources said, the latest in a series of drone attacks that come as a retired U.S. general warns their overuse may threaten American foreign policy goals. A foreign tactical trainer for al-Qaeda [al-CIAduh] was reportedly among those killed in the latest strike, although reports differed on his nationality. Three others were also injured in the attack on Haiderkhel village, about 30 kms (19 miles) east of the provincial capital of Miranshah in North Waziristan, a region along the Afghan border.

Pentagon Agrees to Full Discharge Pay for Gay Troops 07 Jan 2013 Before the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" in 2011, gay and lesbian service members who were forced to leave the military because of their sexual orientation were often honorably discharged. Yet they were given only half of their discharge pay. That changed on Monday. Under a settlement to a class-action lawsuit, the Pentagon has agreed to pay full separation pay to all service members involuntarily separated from the military after Nov. 10, 2004, because of their sexual orientation. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, which brought the action against the Defense Department, the half pay was the result of an internal policy adopted in 1991.

Obama Said Close to Choosing Lew for Treasury Secretary 08 Jan 2013 President Barack Obama may choose White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew to replace Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner as soon as this week, according to two people familiar with the matter. The selection of Lew would trigger a White House shuffle for Obama's second term as he replaces his chief of staff and moves senior aides into new roles, said the people, who requested anonymity to discuss personnel matters. While Obama hasn't made a final decision to pick Lew, the president's staff has been instructed to prepare for his nomination, said one of the people.

Ten banks settle foreclosure charges for $8.5 billion 07 Jan 2013 Ten major U.S. banks and mortgage companies will pay *8.5 billion to settle complaints that they improperly foreclosed on some homeowners, federal regulators announced Monday. The settlement package includes *3.3 billion in direct payments to eligible owners and *5.2 billion in loan modifications, forgiveness of deficiency judgments and other assistance, according to announcements by the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The OCC says the direct payments will be the highest compensation to homeowners so far as a result of lenders' actions during the foreclosure crisis.

11,000 US teachers laid off in December 07 Jan 2013 Since the Department of Labor's monthly employment report was released last Friday, very little discussion in the media has been devoted to the fact that of the 13,000 local government workers that were laid off last month, more than 11,000 were teachers or school-related staff. Reuters reported that last month's firings have driven the number of workers employed by local government to their lowest levels since 2005. Typically, a school will announce layoffs slated to go into effect at the end of a school year. That the firings have occurred in the middle of the year points to the fact that many districts, pressed for funds, simply have no choice but to let go of staff without warning.

Marin Carpool Lane Violator Says Corporation Counts as Passenger 07 Jan 2013 A San Rafael man pulled over for driving alone in the carpool lane is fighting the traffic ticket on the grounds that he was riding with a corporation. The 'corporations are people' debate was set off by the 2010 U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United decision that allowed unprecedented corporate spending on political elections. On October 3rd, activist Jonathan Frieman decided that he'd extend that notion to his commute, claiming incorporation documents as a carpool buddy. An explanation that did not get him off the hook for a ticket of nearly $500. "Corporations are imaginary entities, and we've let them run wild," Friedman has stated, according to a San Jose Mercury News article. "Their original intent...was to serve human beings. So I'm wresting back that power by making their personhood serve me."
