A Report On Violations Against Journalists During 2012
On its annual report, issued today, the Government Media Office, mentioned that 144 violations against journalists in the Palestinian occupied territories were recorded during the last year of 2012. The violations were committed by the Israeli occupation, PA security services, and unknown persons.
The report pointed out that most prominent violations were the killing of three journalists in the Gaza Strip during the recent Israeli offensive against Gaza. The Israeli occupation forces also wounded 44 journalists; 36 of them in the West Bank including one female journalist and 11 journalists in the Gaza Strip.
The report indicated that 32 journalists were detained by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank while 15 were banned from practicing their work. The Israeli occupation also committed violations against 42 media organizations 16 of which in the West Bank and 24 in the Gaza Strip
