White House, Senate GOP leaders reach tentative deal on 'fiscal crisis,' sources say [No surprises here, since this White House, GOP, and Wall Street have *always* been on the same page, despite media assertions to the contrary.] 31 Dec 2012 White House and Senate Republican negotiators have reached a tentative deal on the fiscal crisis, sources tell Fox News. Vice President Biden is arriving on Capitol Hill to try and make sure Senate Democrats are on board. While the Senate leaders appear to have signed off on the deal, both chambers of Congress still must pass it. ['Liberal' Democrats oppose the deal, but no worries -- they'll again fold like cheap suits. Recall the 'insurance cartel giveaway' aka 'health care reform.']
U.S. likely to fall off 'fiscal cliff' at midnight 31 Dec 2012 The U.S. House of Representatives will miss tonight's midnight deadline that lawmakers had set for voting to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff." House Republicans notified lawmakers that the chamber will vote this evening on other bills. They say that will be their only votes of the day. Earlier today, President Barack Obama and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell both said they are near a deal to avoid wide-ranging tax increases and spending cuts -- the [Wall Street-engendered] fiscal cliff -- that take effect with the new year.

She didn't suffer a stroke or sustain any neurological damage, said her doctors. "In all other aspects of her recovery, the secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery," Dr. Lisa Bardack of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., and Dr. Gigi El-Bayoumi of George Washington University said.

Palestinian health official: Swine flu outbreak kills 9 people, infects hundreds 31 Dec 2012 A Palestinian health official says an outbreak swine flu has killed nine people. Deputy Health Minister As'ad Ramlawi also said Monday more than 225 people have been infected by the H1N1 influenza strain, known as swine flu. He said more than 25,000 vaccinations have been administered this year to 'prevent' it. The West Bank has 2.5 million residents.
9 Palestinians died of H1N1 virus over 2 weeks: medics 30 Dec 2012 Nine Palestinians have died of H1N1 virus in the West Bank over the last two weeks, Palestinian officials confirmed Saturday. Asaad Al-Ramlawi, Director of Primary Health Care in the Ministry of Health, told Xinhua that according to the ministry's laboratories "nine Palestinians died, while 189 were diagnosed to suffer the virus. All dead were suffering of chronic illness due to immune deficiency, as the H1N1 virus caused severe pulmonary infections of which they died," said Al-Ramlawi.
CIA Sued to Release NYPD Spying Report 31 Dec 2012 A non-profit government watchdog has sued the Central Intelligence Agency to uncover information about its controversial collaboration with the New York City Police Department's counter-terrorism surveillance program. The suit, filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center on Dec. 20, seeks to force the release of a report by the agency's inspector general into whether it violated legal prohibitions against spying on American soil. In 2011, the Associated Press revealed that the agency was deeply involved in training the NYPD's Intelligence Unit, which spied on Muslims in New York even when there was no evidence they had committed any crimes.
Revealed: how the FBI coordinated the crackdown on Occupy --New documents prove 'totally integrated corporate-state repression of dissent' 29 Dec 2012 It was more sophisticated than we had imagined: new documents show that the violent crackdown on Occupy last fall - so mystifying at the time – was not just coordinated at the level of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local police. The crackdown... was coordinated with the big banks themselves. The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund document shows a terrifying network of coordinated DHS, FBI, police, regional fusion center, and private-sector activity so completely merged into one another that the monstrous whole is, in fact, one entity: in some cases, bearing a single name, the Domestic Security Alliance Council. And it reveals this merged entity to have one centrally planned, locally executed mission. The documents, in short, show the cops and DHS working for and with banks to target, arrest, and politically disable peaceful American citizens.
