True Pacific Continues To Shine, Seeks New Producers

PRESS RELEASE

12 November 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

True Pacific Continues To Shine, Seeks New Producers

The True Pacific initiative was launched in a glittering display at the 2011 Pacific Showcase in September of that year. After a year of significant gains in bringing the best quality products the Pacific has to offer to the rest of the world, the True Pacific team is now looking to recruit a second round of producers to join the burgeoning programme. Expressions of interest from potential producers are now open, and close on Friday 14th December 2012.

True Pacific is an initiative of the New Zealand-based non-profit Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF), which works to strengthen ties between Pacific nations and with local communities to support social and economic development. True Pacific helps PCF to achieve this mandate by working closely with Pacific-based producers of food, beverage and unique artisan products, helping them to grow and reach new markets.

The True Pacific mark symbolises products that are of a genuine Pacific origin and meet strict quality standards. These standards are based on a rigorous application and assessment process that ensures products are of a high quality and that effective production systems are in place.

With a focus on both established and emerging enterprises True Pacific is now looking to recruit new partners to join the initial 25, who export or are ready to export value added products, fresh from the Pacific.

True Pacific Project Manager Frances Hartnell says they are looking for enterprises that produce high quality items in the Pacific, or use core ingredients sourced from the Pacific, and who are looking to grow their business by exporting to a larger market.

“As well as our focus on the quality of products and how they are manufactured and processed, it is just as important that potential partners are able to provide export markets on a consistent basis,” she says.

“A key learning from the pilot group of 25 has also been the importance of using the True Pacific branding on all products, so that consumers feel secure in the knowledge they are receiving a guaranteed level of quality.”

Becoming part of True Pacific means becoming part of a growing success story. The glittering September 2011 launch at Auckland’s Cloud has been followed up with a year of notable highlights, which the team are working to build on during year two. With a huge media profile, the launch was followed up by the development of a number of new distribution channels and opportunities for the True Pacific business.

“At the end of the day we are looking for producers who are committed to the ethos of True Pacific and what we’re trying to achieve,” says Frances.

“We are about elevating, exposing and growing the market for high-quality Pacific products, so anyone who wants to do the same for their business should strongly consider applying to come on board. It’s an exciting time for us at True Pacific and we plan to continue building the momentum we have already established.”

Expressions of interest from potential producers are now open, and close on Friday 14th December 2012.
