Shots Fired Near White House in Attempted Robbery, 4 Suspects At Large 09 Nov 2012 An attempted robbery near DuPont Circle Friday morning led to shots being fired near the White House, and
now police are hunting four suspects. The incident began with an attempted robbery near the corner of 18th Street and
Jefferson Place, after 6 a.m. Multiple people were robbed by a group of suspects, police say. One of the robbery victims
pursued the suspect in the direction of Lafayette Square, just a few blocks from the White House.

that were won by Romney. The majority of the tweets, as Jezebel noted, were often from young white residents in southern states.

despair, as one McDonald's location hung the Stars and Stripes upside-down and at half-mast. Some diners at the
Follansbee, West Virginia, restaurant could not believe their eyes when the say the flag on the day after Obama secured
more electoral votes than Republican rival Mitt Romney. An upside-down flag is a 'signal of dire distress in instances
of extreme danger to life or property,' according to federal law.
Linguist charged under Espionage Act 07 Nov 2012 A linguist for the Navy in Bahrain is charged under the Espionage Act with possessing classified documents
- some of which ended up in public archives of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. James Hitselberger, who is
fluent in Arabic, had the job as a federal contractor of translating documents for the Joint Special Operations Task
Force-Gulf Cooperation Council. The council contains a unit conducting unconventional warfare, counterterrorism and
special reconnaissance. Hitselberger pleaded not guilty on Oct. 26.
Washington DC-bound plane escorted by military jet 08 Nov 2012 A United Airlines flight from Denver has landed safely in Washington, D.C., after its crew reported an
emergency because a passenger began praying in an aisle. KUSA-TV reports the plane was escorted by military jets after the crew declared the emergency. The plane landed Thursday at Dulles
International Airport.
San Onofre nuclear plant hearing denied 08 Nov 2012 Federal regulators have rejected a request from environmentalists to hold a court-like review of equipment
issues at the long-shuttered San Onofre nuclear power plant in San Diego County. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission voted
unanimously in Maryland Thursday to set aside the request from Friends of the Earth, but left open the possibility a
hearing might take place after further reviews.
Health group asks Obama to stop eating junk food in public 08 Nov 2012 A Washington, D.C.-based health group is making another appeal to President Obama to stop eating junk food
in public now that election season is over. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) made headlines in
May when it filed a petition with the White House objecting to Obama's habit of grabbing hamburgers, hot dogs and other
unhealthy foods with his staff and visiting dignitaries. On Wednesday, PCRM Founder Neal Barnard called on Obama to
abandon the foods he ate on the campaign trail -- "cheesesteaks in Philly on Monday, barbecue in Dallas on Tuesday,
cheese pizza in Madison, Wis., on Thursday" -- now that he has secured reelection.
