Gaza Ministry of Detainee Affairs

The Ministry of Detainees' Affairs informed that on Tuesday the Knesset Committee on Legal Measures ratified in second
and third readings to amend the Code of Interrogation Regulations during criminal investigation. The amendment extends
the current code for another three years, and gives the right to the Israeli police and the Shin Bet security service
NOT to document the investigation carried out against Palestinian prisoners, whether by sound recording or video.

"This decision allows the Zionist interrogators to continue to torture Palestinian prisoners during interrogation," Dr.
Atallah Abu Sebah, Minister of Detainees' Affairs, said. "This decision is contrary to international laws and
international conventions related to Detainees and prisoners," he added.
According to Abu Sebah, the occupation forces are using torture not only to collect confessions from prisoners, but also
to humiliate and destroy the dignity and humanity of them. Abu Sebah noted that the occupation is using more than one
hundred kinds of torture against prisoners.
Abu Sebah appealed to the international community and human rights organizations, including the Red Cross, to monitor
the situation of prisons, and how far it complies with the international law.
In the same context, the Ministry said that the Israeli prison administration threatened Ayman Alchroana, a Palestinian
prisoner who was re-arrested after being released in the latest prisoner swap, with solitary confinement if he continues
his open hunger strike, which started 5 days ago in protest against his arrest.
The Ministry recently published recently details of Alchroana's hunger strike, and how he was re-arrested after his
release.
