Gaza Minister of Detainee Affairs Dr Attallah Abu Sebah expresses his condolences to the prisoner Mohammed Abda on the death of his mother, after she was forced by the occupation forces to wait for a long time at the Qalandia checkpoint.
Dr Abu Sebah said that the death of Mohammed Abda’s mother at Qalandya checkpoint while she was returning home from visiting her son is a typical example of the suffering prisoners’ relatives are subjected to. He pointed out that the occupation forbids the people of Gaza Strip from visiting their relatives in Israeli jails, despite the ‘Al Karameh Agreement’ that was signed between the High Committee of the Leadership of the Hunger Strike and the Israeli authorities, and sponsored by Egypt that included a point of reactivating the visits program for the Gaza Strip families.
Dr Abu Sebah added that the Israeli occupation does its best to aggravate the prisoners and their relatives, and to break their will. Abu Sebah demanded human rights and humanitarian organisations to put pressure on Israel to the facilitate the family visits. He also demanded that Egypt put pressure on Israel to implement all of the the points of the ‘Al Karameh Agreement.’
Mohammed Abda was arrested by the Israeli Occupation Authorities during Alaqsa Intifada 2001. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
