The official Jordanian news agency quoted the monarch as stressing that Jordan was employing all potentials to reach a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestine cause.
He renewed Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people’s aspirations of establishing their independent state on 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital in a negotiated settlement based on the two-state solution, international resolutions, and the Arab peace initiative.
King Abdullah affirmed the importance of unity for the Palestinian people, which, he said, would assist them in achieving legitimate rights.
Mishaal, for his part, stressed the strong bilateral relations between the Jordanian and Palestinian peoples, adding that the meeting with the Jordanian monarch fell at an important time for the sake of maintaining contacts and consultations between the two sides. He affirmed keenness on developing relations with Jordan in all spheres.
Mishaal said that his movement categorically rejects all projects of an alternative homeland for the Palestinian people.
The monarch then hosted a lunch banquet in honor of Mishaal and his accompanying delegation attended by the Jordanian premier and senior officials.
