Undersecretary of Interior Ministry and National Security Mr. Kamel Abu Madi said the victory of Dr. Mohamed Morsi as the president of Arab Republic of Egypt is considered a defining moment in the history of the Palestinian cause.
Abu Madi said in a statement to the Interior Ministry’s website on Monday that “this victory regains the Egyptian leading role in the leadership of Arab and Islamic nation in the next phase to strengthen and support the Palestinian issue in particular and the issues of the nation in general.”

He added that this victory will reinforce relations between the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples, who face the Israeli occupation and defend the holy land.
Abu Madi congratulated the President-elect Morsi and the Egyptian people, saying that this victory is a big success for the revolution of the twenty-fifth of January, which made Egypt a new era to take a pioneering role in leading the nation.
Moreover, Abu Madi showed that “the Palestinians came out in various cities of the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian rallies spontaneous waving the flags of Egypt and Palestine, to express the joy of victory.”
Abu Madi expressed high confidence that the Egyptian President-elect to lift the blockade imposed on Gaza Strip and to give more attention to open the Rafah crossing permanently; to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
