Alina Rocha Menocal's worthy article on Foreign Policy arms the reader with a powerful beam to penetrate the normal obscurity of this theme. The upcoming Mexican election could be one of the most epochal disasters affecting Mexico since Carlos Salinas took office in the 1990’s. Mirabile Dictu, the United States faces the grim prospect of being one of the main losers in the July ballot, and the same could be said, but to a lesser extent, regarding Canada. At long last Mexico could discover on election day that U.S. national interests are no longer identical to those of Mexico’s, and that drugs, migration, and energy sales are no longer of the same rank or order of importance to the agenda of their respective countries.
