June 14, 2012

The State Department will host the ninth meeting of the U.S.-India Global Issues Forum on June 14, 2012. This bilateral dialogue is an opportunity for the two nations to discuss existing and develop new areas of regional and global cooperation.

This year’s Global Issue Forum will focus on disaster risk reduction, governance, and youth engagement. The Global Issues Forum, which immediately follows the third U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue, will be co-convened by Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Maria Otero and Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai.

The Forum’s last meeting took place in September 2010, in advance of President Obama’s visit to India, where the President and Prime Minister Singh agreed on a number of areas for cooperation, including exercising global leadership in support of open government and democratic values.
