PMs Political Comeback
Editor,
Where is the need in a small Pacific island
country like Fiji for grand dad politicians like Chaudhary
and Qarase to make a political comeback when the world's
most powerful country can be led by a 50 year
old?
Remember he took office as President at age
48.
Unlike Prof. Walsh Crosbie I have no qualms over their criticism of the new constitution making and vote registration processes. (Fiji Sun 27/5 Crosbie's article ' Obstruction') That's their democratic right as citizens. But I am not sure they are being brilliantly sensible in trying to return to power - although I must admit that too is their democratic right.
Why would they want to return to
power?
To serve the people of Fiji?
Or, to serve their
political power addiction?
They do not regard themselves
indispensable in the political governance of the country, do
they?
They need reminding that better political leaders
have come and gone.
They country will manage alright
without them.
Yours sincerely,
Rajend
Naidu
