Administrative Detention of MP Natshe Renewed - Fourth Time

IOA Renews Administrative Detention of MP Natshe for Fourth Time

27/05/2012

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has renewed the administrative detention of MP Mohammed Jamal Al-Natshe for four months for the fourth consecutive time.

Natshe’s wife told the change and reform parliamentary bloc - Gaza branch in a telephone contact on Sunday that her husband was informed of the extension on 14/5 despite the fact that his former detention was not over yet.

Mushir Al-Masri, the spokesman for the bloc, denounced the IOA decision, charging that it was in flagrant violation of the MP’s immunity and rights.

Natshe was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to eight and a half years in jails, six years of them in solitary confinement. He was released in September 2010 but was arrested anew in January 2011 and was held since then in administrative custody.

The IOA is holding 27 MPs in custody including 24 affiliated with Hamas’ change and reform bloc.

The international campaign for the release of Palestinian MPs held in Israeli jails has lashed out at the international silence toward the administrative detention policy, adding that it encourages Israel to go ahead in its policy.
