Several Palestinian Hunger-Strikers Have Sent Messages, Wills To Their Families
The Organization of Prisoner Support assured that some striking prisoners, who have been striking for more than two
months, had sent messages and wills to their families after a lengthy period of hunger strike, sensing that it may last
longer, and determining to stop drinking water as well, which endangers their lives.
From the beginning the prisoners decided to carry out this strike until achieving their demands, which they consider
legal and moral.
Under the deliberate blindness of the international community, which was eager to free Shalit when he was a prisoner in
the hands of the Palestinian resistance, and the intransigence of the Israeli authorities, the prisoners will not
retreat. They say: Dignity or Death.
The prisoners want agreement brokered between the Egyptian’s and the Israeli’s to be honoured, the agreement which led
to the prisoner swap deal at the end of last year.
As well as freeing Shalit and some Palestinian prisoners, the agreement required ending the policy of solitary
confinement, and improving detention procedures, but none of these stipulation have been achieved. This has angered
Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails, especially those in solitary confinement, and administrative detainees.
Deputy of the Origination, Ramzi el-Najjar added that some strikers have also been prevented from going to prison
clinics, which increases concern about their condition.
Some strikers and prisoners in solitary confinement, such as Abedallah el-Barghouthi, Hasan Salama, Thayer Halahle,
Ibrahim Hamed, Abbas el-Sayyed, Ahmad Saadat, Mahmood Shreiteh, Jamal el-Hoor have sent messages and wills to their
families.
El-Najjar added that the international community must do its duty and uphold its responsibility to save the lives of
human beings exposed to danger.
