Ministry of Detainees’ Affairs forming "procedures cell" to back the hunger strike.

The Ministry of Detainees’ Affairs formed a "procedures cell" to back the hunger strike that the detainees are running against Israeli' actions in detention. All the concerned bodies will cooperate to back the detainees cause and to put effective planes. The Minister instructed them to use all the procedures to highlight the detainees cause, and to work hard to free them.

Ministry of Religious Affairs: the detainees cause is the Friday Sermon.

The Minister of Religious Affairs called the Imams and Kati to speak about the detainees’ suffering and their hunger strike in Friday Sermon. The Minister emphasized the need to reveal the practices of the occupation against the detainees, and to stand by the detainees. He also called for their cause to be promoted nationally and internationally in the media.

Minister of Justice received the Board of Trustees of the Arab Organization of Human Rights.

The Minister of Justice received a delegation from the Board of Trustees of the Arab Organization of Human Rights and expressed appreciation for their efforts. The Minister pointed out the daily violations and crimes committed by the Zionists against the Palestinian people and prisoners, the confiscation of Palestinian lands, the building of apartheid wall, the daily killing, the violation of the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque and international law, and their attempts to disrupt the work of the Legislative Council by arresting 27 MPs. On the other hand the minister received the head of AL-Noor party and praised the effort of Egypt to end the siege.

Ministry of Woman Affairs issued a statistical directory.

The Ministry of Woman Affairs issued a statistical directory that includes a number of important statistics about Palestinian women’s issues in Gaza. The directory highlighted the role of women and several issues that have an influence in their lives. This directory will enhance the participation of women in building the Palestinian nation and raise their awareness.

Ministry of Transport and Communication allows engineer equipment from Egypt.

The Minister of Transport and Communication decided to allow the importing of engineering equipment from the Egyptian side provided that the age of equipment does not exceed more than 20 years. This step is one of many that aim to rebuild the blockaded Gaza Strip. On the other hand, the General Department of Engineering and Traffic Safety, in cooperation with the General Administration of Transport, held meeting with the owners of bus companies to discuss the traffic crisis in Gaza and the impact of the fuel crisis.


Gaza: The Committee of Governmental Aid distributes $ 99,000 to 439 needy families.

The Committee of Governmental Aid – Cabinet Secretariat distributed $99,000 to 439 needed families in all governorates. The role of the Governmental Aid Committee is to provide assistance to several needy social sectors according to a specific budget.

Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities start distributing fuel to tourist facilities.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities distributed quantities of fuel to tourist facilities which are affected by the fuel crisis. The minister pointed that the tourism sector has been sorely affected by the conditions in Gaza, either by the imposed siege or the last war on Gaza that damaged many facilities. This will help in solving the problem temporarily, as the quantity of fuel is not sufficient. The Ministry also held an exhibition for tourism products within an exhibition of national products shown at the Islamic University between 22-25 April.


Minister of Labor emphasized the role of the centers of professional training.

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor paid a field visit to the directorates and centers of professional training in Khan Younis to become acquainted with the process and employment needs. This step aims to improve the program of the Ministry and maintain contact between the Ministry and its branches.


Minister of Agriculture: we achieved self-sufficiency.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture has confirmed that the ministry achieved a self-sufficiency in many products and agricultural crops because they have implemented a well thought out strategy. The minister said that the policy of replacing imports is part of the agricultural-economic plan. He emphasized during the program at the Government Media Office that the Ministry's decision at the current stage is to support the local product and protect it. The Ministry's slogan in 2012 is "National Product = resolution."


Minister of Detainees’ Affairs informs the Arab League about the detainee situation.

The Minster of Detainees’ Affairs informed the general secretary of Arab League Dr.Nabeel Al-Arabee about the hunger strike that the detainees are carrying out in Israeli jails against the daily aggressions committed against them. During a telephone call he called for immediate actions by the Arab league and Arab foreign ministers to save the detainees and alleviate their suffering, saying that the serious deterioration may end up in a prison uprising.


Ministry of Communications inaugurated the Second Technology Forum

The Ministry of Communications &Information Technology inaugurated the Second Technology Forum organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology in Khan Younis under the title" The Impact of Information Technology on Education." The Minister said that this forum reflects the efforts of the Ministry to improve and enhance the communication and Information Technology sector despite the strict blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, the Ministry of Communication participated in the solidarity tent with the Palestinian detainees which was held before the International Centre for the Red Cross in Gaza City, and affirmed its support and solidarity with the hunger strikers.

Minister of Public Works &Housing condemned Israeli legalisation3 outposts

The Minister of Public Works & Housing condemned Israeli legalisation of 3 illegal outposts in the West Bank. He called on international human rights organizations to prevent the occupation from building illegal settlements on Palestinian lands, and to expose its crimes against the Palestinians.

Ministry of Youth prepare "Jerusalem Marathon"

The Ministry of Sports and Youth announced preparations for the "Jerusalem Marathon" which will be held on 15th May, in correspondence with the activities of the Nakba Commemoration. Several ministries, universities, institutions and sports clubs will participate in this marathon.

The Ministry also said that it will launch a second season of El-Raed Training Program 2012 and it will include new specializations, to meet the needs of the community.

Ministry of Women Affairs held "Media spokeswomen" course

The Ministry of Women Affairs, in cooperation with the Government Media Office, held a training course to train media spokeswomen to be able to face the mass media and speak about Palestinian women’s issues. The course is the first of its kind in the Gaza Strip, which intends to qualify women in Palestinian society.

Environment Quality Authority organized a workshop about toxic agents

The Environment Quality Authority organized a workshop about the effect of toxic agents on humans and on the environment. The guest speaker at the workshop was Dr. Steven Gilbert, toxicologist and founder of the Institute of Toxicology in the United States. The subject of the course was about how to control toxic insects that infect plants.

Government to spend $15,000 to fight Foot and Mouth disease

The Palestinian Government decided to spend $15,000 on the fight against foot and mouth disease in the Gaza Strip. The Information Office at the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said that the Ministry of Agriculture will oversee the campaign against the disease and help farmers, pointing out that the government supports the agriculture sector and provide all the necessary assistance.

Ministry of Agriculture concludes the third agricultural exhibition 2012

The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture concluded the Third Agricultural Exhibition 2012, which was held at the Islamic University in Gaza city. The Minister of Agriculture said that the Ministry contributed in the improvement of domestic product at 9.4% despite the blockade and war.

Prime Minister praised the conduct of the Employees' Recruitment Examination

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education praised the conduct the employees' recruitment examination which were held in all the directorates of Education in the Gaza Strip. The Prime Minister said during a press conference that "The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is proceeding according to a well-prepared plan intended primarily to reduce the unemployment of graduates and to build a generation capable of carrying responsibility."

For his part, the Minister of Education said that the exams aimed to measure the capacity of applicants for teaching jobs, and is transparent and objective.

Ministry of Economy honored the ideal employee for 2011

The Ministry of National Economy held a ceremony to honor the ideal employee for 2012, with the presence of the Minister of National Economy and the employees of the Ministry. The Minister expressed his happiness at this ceremony and stressed the good relations among employees which positively affects the work of the Ministry.

Ministry of Education to establish a central library attached to research center

The Minister of Education said that the Ministry intends to establish a central library attached to a research center in Gaza City. He added that the establishment of the library will promote the culture of reading in the Palestinian community. The Ministry also launched several scientific exhibitions including those prepared by students in the governmental schools, in order to encourage students to pursue study of the sciences.

Government Media Office called for increasing local and international efforts to support the detainees

The Government Media Office issued a press statement calling for increasing international and local efforts to support the detainees on their hunger strike. The GMO also called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Conference to promote the issue of the 2400 detainees on hunger strike. It also called on the Embassies of Palestine to start moving and support the heroic prisoners in their battle with the occupation.
