Prisoners Establish Committee To Supervise The Hunger Strike
Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prison of Nafha established a joint committee of all factions to manage the hunger strike in a way reflecting national unity.
Representatives of Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, and the popular and democratic fronts for the liberation of Palestine in the Israeli jails of Nafha, Askalan, and Beersheba signed the agreement on Sunday.
They agreed that members of the committee will swear never to give in to pressures until achieving the minimum of prisoners’ demands.
Names of the nine members of the committee will be announced to the public and to all prisoners in order to abide by their instructions. The committee members will be the only party responsible for negotiating with the Israeli prison service.
The Palestinian prisoners are scheduled to start their hunger strike on Tuesday demanding an end to the humiliating prison conditions, to night raids and strip searches of them and their relatives, and to solitary confinement and visit deprivation.
