UN Needs Assessment Mission to Fiji
[Suva, Fiji – April 12, 1012] In response to a request from the Government of Fiji for electoral assistance, as per standard practice, the United Nations is conducting a Needs Assessment Mission to Fiji to assess preparations and provide recommendations for possible UN electoral assistance.
The mission, led by the Electoral Assistance Division of the Department of Political Affairs, arrived in Fiji on April 9 and continues until April 13, 2012.
“The mission is holding discussions with relevant authorities and other stakeholders. Upon return to New York, the mission will submit its report and recommendations to Mr. B. Lynn Pascoe, the Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs, the UN Focal Point for Electoral Assistance,” said the head of the mission, Angela Bargellini.
