XVI's Cuban Pilgrimage & the Suppression of the Ladies in

Pope Benedict XVI looked to reestablish
the vitality of the Catholic faith during his recent visit
to Cuba – a trip that was profoundly affected by the
political reality of the left-leaning state. Before his
impending arrival, anti-Cuban dissidents occupied a local
Church which led to a succesion of detainments by Cuban
authorities; the demonstrations were aimed at puting
pressure on the pope to influence Cuban authorities to
enhance civil liberties in the country.
